Initial Code of Conduct
Since dragon society has always respected the natural order of creation, the guard dragons developed and strictly followed the following Initial Code of Conduct:Guard dragons may intervene to protect humans from injury or death, as long as such interventions are kept secret, are non-preferential, and do not unnecessarily endanger other living creatures.
The Code meant guard dragons could intervene to protect humans if the guard dragons’ roles were kept secret from the human or humans receiving assistance.
Furthermore, according to the Code, guard dragons could not show a preference between two humans or among human tribes even when the humans were causing great harm to one another.
Finally, the Code forbade interventions that unnecessarily harmed other living creatures. Unnecessary harm could occur if a guard dragon were to use force greater than that which was absolutely necessary to protect the human or humans the guard dragon protected.
RGDS researchers have recently learned this Initial Code of Conduct was revised in Medieval Times when the guard dragons came under attack by fanatics whose cold energy threatened the guard dragons' survival.
