Early Interventions

Royal Guard Dragons have been assisting humans as far back as the Ice Age.

As the Ice Age began, the Royal Guard Dragons witnessed the demise of many of the animal species they had known.  Fearing that extinction may also await the fragile humans, the Royal Guard Dragons decided to guard the humans and intervene when necessary to ensure their survival.

Not wanting to scare the humans, the Royal Guard Dragons used their speed and masking ability to keep their existence a secret.

At first, the Royal Guard Dragons' assistance consisted of warning away predators that set their sights on the humans.

Later, the Royal Guard Dragons started igniting small fires near humans who eventually recognized and harnessed the fire to ward off the frigid cold of Ice Age winters.

The Royal Guard Dragons normally set these fires under the cover of darkness and often to coincide with storms and lightning.

The Knarwood Manuscript indicates that many human fire keepers were saved from being punished by their peers by Royal Guard Dragons stealthily flaming on dying embers.
