"Flutterby"

This sculpture “Flutterby” depicts the Royal Guard Dragon "Dew Drop", a Flutterby, enjoying her favorite treat, flower nectar.  Each open edition sculpture is handcrafted from a carved master by the RGDS’s resident artist Nino Nardecchia.

Flutterbys are the smallest known Royal Guard Dragons.  The Forest Fairies dubbed them Flutterbys because of the way they fly.  Fairies point out the similarity of the Flutterby’s wings to those of a butterfly.

Flutterbys are shy by nature and spend most of their time deep in the forest with the Forest Fairies. In Spring, however, Flutterbys venture out of the forest just after sunrise and before sunset to gather flower nectar.  So the next time you think you see a butterfly fluttering by, look more closely.  Instead of a butterfly, it may be a Flutterby.
