This sculpture “Naptime” depicts the Royal Guard Dragon "Moon Beam" napping with her hatchling, whom she lovingly calls "Night Owl".  It is one of a limited edition of 500, each handcrafted by the RGDS's resident artist Nino Nardecchia.

Royal Guard Dragon hatchlings are extremely curious and, much to Moon Beam's dismay, Night Owl thinks taking a nap is a waste of valuable exploration time.  So, as with all mothers throughout time, Moon Beam rests with one eye open allowing her to keep track of her independent and mischievous Night Owl.
