*This sculpture “Sweet Tooth” depicts the Royal Guard Dragon "Sweet Tooth" eating one of her favorite foods—a berry tart. It is one of a limited edition of 250, each handcrafted from a carved master by the RGDS’s resident artist Nino Nardecchia.
Royal Guard Dragons do not require nourishment in the same way as most living creatures. Rather, they are sustained by positive natural energy, which the dragons refer to as “Warm Energy”. This warm energy is generated by humans engaged in kindness, laughter, and love. The dragons are also sensitive to negative energy, known as “Cold Energy”. The most harmful cold energy emanates from humans engaged in hatred, intolerance, and cruelty.
Because Royal Guard Dragons are immune to all known toxins, they were used as royal food tasters to detect foods prepared with disease or harmful intent. Sweet Tooth was the best known food taster and over time developed a fondness for sweets—particularly pies and chocolates.
